Obituary of Helen Osterberg

Helen E. Osterberg, 92, of Beach Park, IL, formerly of Bristol, CT died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in Kenosha, WI. Born September 4, 1921 in St. Paul, MN, she was the daughter of the late Rev. And Mrs. John Franklin. She graduated from Bristol High School in 1939. She attended and worked as a secretary at Providence Bible Institute, Providence, R.I., and Bethel College, St. Paul. MN. Helen married David Osterberg, June 1950. She worked for a time at the V.A. Hospital and Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago. She was a member of Immanuel Church in Waukegan for 39 years where she was a Deaconess, a Pioneer Girls leader, and Sunday School teacher, and was active in the evangelism-visitation ministry. For 13 years, she was a secretary at the church and retired from Immanuel's "Concern Counseling Center" in 1984. In later years she was a member of Grace Missionary Church in Zion, IL. Helen dearly loved her family and serving those around her. She is survived by her husband, David; a son, David (Karen) Osterberg of Zion, IL; two daughters, Jan (Ken) Stone of Grayslake, IL, and Dagmar (Al) May of Bristol, WI; 13 grandchildren, Kelly Roberts, D.J. Osterberg, Ben Osterberg, Scott (Andrea) Osterberg, Krystal (Bryan) Patterson, Katie (Mike) Berggren), Kristy Stone, Erik Stone, Kimmy (Gary) Sworthout, Michelle Stone, Michael Stone, Megan May and Kalie May; and 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Mildred Franklin, Ingrid Johnson, and Ethel Johnson; and one brother, Sven Franklin. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 6, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Church, 2300 N. Dilleys Rd., Gurnee, IL. Friends may greet the family from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Final resting place will be Pineview Memorial Park, Beach Park, IL.
