Dear Carol and Kathy, I can still remember the feeling I had as I buried my parents. Like you, my dad died first and, a few years later, Mother. Both had good full lives. Both deaths were in a way that we had ample warning though not long waits. When you lose your last parent, you suddenly realize that you are now the last generation. But it can be an ok feeling. Last weekend in our parish, we had a ceremony where we bought up 39 candles for the 30 parishioners in our community who died. In many cases, family members were there to bring up the candle. ANd we could show a picture of the one who died. It was a good prayer. So often I remark on the gift of resurrection that we have because of our faith in Jesus Christ. That belief gives me a reason to hope in every funeral. And I try to share this faith with the family. These are ideas you have heard before. But they still makes sense. WE have a right to look beyond death - or really to look death straight in the eye and say there is something more. That is consoling. Know that I would like to be with you for the funeral. The schedule does not work out well. But I do share the time of sadness and loss with you. I know from experience what they is. And we come to realize that it is ok. WE can cry. But still believe. Love, Fr. Richard

Dear Carol, Marty, and Family, We will miss seeing and chatting with Peggy. She was such a nice neighbor. When she was feeling well, she would bake cookies for our kids. We all will miss her dearly.
